Our featured medical services

DIabetic Eye Exams
Diabetes can silently damage the blood vessels in your retina before you notice any change in your vision. Our diabetic eye exams use advanced retinal imaging, including Optos wide-field imaging and Topcon Maestro 2 OCT, to detect early signs of diabetic retinopathy and other diabetes-related changes, and we coordinate directly with your primary care team.
Recommended annually for all diabetic patients, or more frequently as your care plan requires.

Dry Eye Disease Management
Dry eye is one of the most underdiagnosed conditions in eye care, and one of our specialties. Every exam includes a complimentary dry eye screening, and when treatment is needed, we offer customized plans including prescription therapies, IPL, radiofrequency (RF), and lifestyle guidance.
Serving patients with chronic dry eye throughout Carmel, Fishers, Westfield, Zionsville, and the greater Indianapolis area.

Macular Degeneration & Glaucoma Screening + Monitoring
Glaucoma is a leading cause of irreversible vision loss but when caught early, it can be managed effectively. Our evaluations include intraocular pressure testing, optic nerve assessment, and visual field analysis, with ongoing monitoring and specialist co-management when needed. AMD is the leading cause of central vision loss in adults over 50. Early detection dramatically changes outcomes. Using OCT imaging, we identify subtle macular changes early, provide AREDS2-based nutritional counseling, and coordinate with retinal specialists when advanced treatment is needed.

Contact Lens Fittings
We fit standard soft lenses, toric lenses for astigmatism and multifocal lenses for presbyopia, all based on a thorough evaluation of your corneal measurements, tear film, and lifestyle. Follow-up care is built into every fitting to ensure long-term comfort and ocular health.
Why choose Alternate View?

Plaquenil (Hydroxychloroquine) Eye Exams
Patients taking Plaquenil for lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, or other autoimmune conditions require regular eye monitoring to screen for drug-related retinal toxicity. We follow current AAO screening guidelines using OCT and visual field testing, and provide documentation to your prescribing physician as part of coordinated care.
Annual Plaquenil screenings are recommended for most patients after the first five years of use, or earlier for high-risk individuals.

Ocular Disease Diagnosis & Management
Beyond the conditions listed above, our optometrists are experienced in diagnosing and co-managing a broad range of ocular diseases, including:
- Cataracts — evaluation, monitoring, and surgical referral coordination
- Chalazion & Eyelid Cysts — evaluation, in-office treatment, and referral for surgical drainage when necessary
- Hypertensive retinopathy — detection of blood pressure-related eye changes
- Anterior uveitis & iritis — diagnosis and treatment coordination
- Flashes, floaters & posterior vitreous detachment (PVD) — evaluation for retinal tears or detachment
- Blepharitis & meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) — in-office and at-home treatment protocols
- Allergic & infectious conjunctivitis — diagnosis and appropriate treatment
If you’ve been referred by another physician, received a new diagnosis, or simply want a more thorough ocular health evaluation than you’ve had before, we welcome you to schedule a medical eye care appointment with us.
